FAQ

Common Questions — Italy IP

Does an EPO patent require separate validation in Italy?
Italy historically required Italian-language translations for EP validation. After the London Agreement (2008), requirements were somewhat reduced. In practice, consult an Italian patent attorney for current validation requirements. EU Unitary Patent (UP) does not require per-country validation among UPC member states.
Does an EUTM cover Italy?
Yes. EUTM covers all 27 EU member states, including Italy.
